Professional Experience and Training

Dr.Rajiv obtained his Ph.D from University of Delhi in 2003 with specialization in the areas of Microbial Ecology and Bioprospecting. Subsequently, he went to premier institutions such as Mayo Clinic (Rochester) in United States for advanced training in interdisciplinary areas of signal transduction pertaining to in vitro and in vivo studies on unmet clinical needs. He joined Amity University in 2012 as a Professor in Amity Institute of Biotechnology and from July 2014 till October 2021, he was heading the Amity Institute of Public Health, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida. Dr Rajiv has recently joined the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Kattankulathur campus as Dean (Research).He is an editor of Scopus indexed journals such as Cardiovascular Toxicology, PLOS One and is an ad-hoc reviewer in many science-citation indexed journals. His current research interests include Restenosis, Fibrosis, Diabetes, Renal Physiology, Cell Biology, Signal Transduction, Vascular Biology, Public Health and Artificial Intelligence. His research is currently funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and Indian Council of Medical Research, Government of India.

Objective Our core strategies are to tackle few of the pressing challenges of the 21^st century in areas that are catering to foster Food Security, Environmental Security and Unmet Clinical Needs using Cutting-edge and disruptive fruganomic technology enabled innovations through extensive core and multi-disciplinary research.Our institute has made strenuous efforts to line up its research focus with the national importance of achieving technological self-reliance.  Our specific objectives are to:

Research promotion scheme

1. Funding pilot projects of the Faculty members of Department/Division of Medical Research, SRM Institute of Science and Technology under Selective Excellence Initiative Program.
2. Funding innovative projects of the students of Department/Division of Medical Research, SRM Institute of Science and Technology under Research Excellence Undergraduate Program.
3. A special Finance Committee to assist the Principal Investigator with the expenses as well as the preparation of Utilization Certificates for the project is set up to facilitate the smooth functioning of the project.
4. Seed money for faculty members to set up their own research laboratories for carrying out research.
5. Faculty Abroad Program for one semester.
6. Financial assistance to the faculty members to carry out Proof of Concepts in the lab.With the proof of concepts, they can apply for funded projects from Government Funding agencies.
7. Incubation centers for all the stakeholders of the Research ecosystem at Department/Division of Medical Research, SRM IST.
8. Performance Incentives, scholarships and research awards to the faculty members and research scholars based on the impact factor for journal publications and funded projects.
9. Encouragement for signing MoUs with Universities and companies for collaborative research.
10. Students Abroad Program for one semester.
11. Every year Research Day is celebrated on 28th of February.The faculty members and the students present their research papers separately in their respective departments and the best papers are awarded Gold and Silver medals.The selected papers are sent to the National/ International journals for publication.
12. Financial assistance is given to the faculty members and students to get patents for their innovative ideas/products.A special patent office with experienced officials support assists the inventors through the filing process.
13. Students are encouraged to participate in competitions in India or abroad with their innovations.
14. The faculty members and students are sent to International and National conferences /seminars/workshops for participation and presenting their papers.Financial support is also provided for registration, accommodation etc.for a period of 3 years.
15. Post-doctoral fellowships are provided for young scientists to foster a scientific environment with a view to develop their scientific endeavors.
